This paper highlights the findings of an industry - academia collaborative project in the field of process intensification for enabling the transfer and exploitation of the spinning disc reactor technology for the manufacture of high value materials for the digital printing business. Scientific data obtained from this work is being used to design and study a pilot scale intensified reactor by PICT Group at Clarkson University and Eastman Kodak Company. The spinning disc reactor (SDR) concept which utilises thin highly sheared films provides excellent heat and mass transport rates.
