The system has an air conditioning housing (12) forming a ventilation path, a heat exchanger (13) for cooling air mounted in the housing, a heat exchanger (14) for heating air mounted in the housing downstream of the cooling heat exchanger, a separating wall plate for dividing the ventilation path into left and right paths and a left and right temperature adjuster (26) in the corresponding paths for regulated setting of the quantity of conditioned air to be heated by the heating heat exchanger. The temperature adjusters causes the air flow to a passenger compartment point under increased thermal load to be increased, whilst an increase in the air flow to a passenger compartment point which is not under increased thermal load is reduced when the left and right adjusters are both set to maximum cooling. An Independent claim is also included for an air mixing element for a motor vehicle air conditioning system.
