The temp. gradient used as a criterion for switching-off the battery-charger is measured and corrected before being checked against a limiting value. The correction is derived from the temp. gradients worked out in advance of the rapid charging, at a particular value of temp. difference. It diminishes with the thermal time constant of the battery. With the battery at 15 deg.C and the ambient temp. 25 deg.C, the charging current is switched off at 0.8 deg.C/min.
