The sample holder comprises in particular a hollow body (1) containing two mutually movable jaws (7, 8) and brought together by springs (10), between which the sample can be clamped at a height chosen by the user, by example for flush with an opening (13) of a cover (12) where the study radiation is focused. A removable bottom (3) and a transparent sheet glued to protuberances (14) of the cover (12) allow the sample to be isolated from the outside. Such a device can be used in X-ray diffractometry and in other devices.
