METHOD AND DEVICE FOR CONTROLLING MOLTEN GLASS LEVEL IN GLASS MELTING DEVICE

Process and device for controlling the level of molten glass in glass melting equipment. Two methods of determination are suggested. In a first method wt. of the glass melting equipment including the molten contents are weighed. The wt. of the equipment is substructed from the gross wt. to obtain the net wt. of glass which is compared with a previously fixed wt. Raw material is added to the equipment in relation to the glass wt. comparison. In a second method the gross wt. of the equipment and glass contents is measured and compared with a previously fixed wt. of molten glass and equipment. Addition to raw material is controlled in relation to the wt. comparison. USE/ADVANTAGE - Controls the level of glass in glass melting equipment enabling flow and outlet pressure to be maintained at a constant level. The requirment for a laser and microwave or similar level indicator is unnecessary.
