PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for immobilizing microorganisms with sericite, a kind of naturally-occurring ceramics, among others, as support, concerning the immobilization technique for microorganisms called as enzyme biocatalyst with a ceramic as support, and to provide a bioreactor capable of producing economical and practicable products by the use of such a microorganism- immobilized support. SOLUTION: This method for immobilizing microorganisms is such one that microorganisms for biocatalyst such as yeast or koji moulds is bound to and immobilized on sericite as support, and a product such as ethanol is obtained from a saccharide substrate by using the resultant microorganism-immobilized support. The other objective bioreactor afforded by application of the above microorganism immobilization technique can be obtained at a markedly reduced cost, being capable of giving products of significantly diminished costs.
