PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a handwriting character recognizing device and a character input method for handwriting character recognition with which an inputted character is easily converted into a target character for recognizing the character while registering and setting specified data (such as symbol or graphic) for converting the character when a character is manually written into a handwriting character input character frame and these specified data are inputted. ;SOLUTION: Concerning the handwriting character recognizing device provided with a handwriting character input means 106 for inputting a character to the handwriting input frame, handwriting character recognizing means 107 for recognizing that inputted character, display means 5 for displaying various kinds of information while including processing for displaying the recognized result in a recognized result display area inside a screen and control means 1 for controlling the respective above means, this device is provided with a character specifying means 109 for converting the character inputted by the handwriting character input means 106 to the target character and a character converting means 108 for converting that specified character into a target character code.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
