PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct even the segment error of a complicated pattern with a little operation concerning an online handwriting character recognizing device.;SOLUTION: This method is provided with a step for recognizing a character by grouping a stroke into segments, step for displaying the stroke while dividing it for each segment area, step for regrouping the stroke in response to plotting of a closed graphic, which surrounds one part of strokes when the strokes are displayed while being divided for each of segment areas, so that the stroke included in the surrounded part and the stroke included in the part, which is not surrounded by the closed graphic, inside the segment area, to which the stroke included in the part surrounded by the closed graphic belongs, can become different segments, and step for correcting the character by performing character recognition for each of regrouped segments.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
