PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain electrochemical reaction of a dielectric layer and an alkali component diffused in the dielectric layer by forming a material of the dielectric layer formed on a surface of a substrate out of a hardly reducing member to the alkali component in a substrate.;SOLUTION: Scanning electrode pairs composed of first/second electrodes are laid in parallel on a surface of a first glass substrate 1 of an AC type plasma display panel(PDP), and the scanning electrode pairs are covered with a dielectric layer 4a. A part or the whole of the dielectric layer 4a is composed of a hardly reducing member 4 to an alkali component. The member 4 is called a PbO-less dielectric layer, and zinc borate glass can be cited as an actual example. The dielectric layer 4 has a property hardly causing reducing reaction to an alkali component such as Na in the substrate 1. Thus, an electric characteristic change in an AC type PDP can be restrained so that operation of the AC type PDP can be stabilized over a long period.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
