MICROORGANISM SECRETING SHIKIMIC ACID TO OUTSIDE OF MICROBIAL CELL AND PRODUCTION OF SHIKIMIC ACID

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a microorganism having properties secreting shikimic acid to the outside of microbial cell and a specific physicochemical properties and capable of economically producing shikimic acid useful as a raw material, etc., for medicines thereby. ;SOLUTION: This microorganism has properties secreting shikimic acid to the outside of microbial cell and has either one property among (i) a property having resistance to pyruvic acid analogue such as bromopyruvic acid, (ii) a property requiring succinic acid for growth, (iii) a property requiring glutamic acid for growth, (iv) a property having resistance to vitamin B1 analogue such as oxythiamine and (v) a property having resistance to shikimic acid in high concentration and belongs to the genus Citrobacter, e.g. Citrobacter freundii. Further, shikimic acid is preferably produced by culturing a microorganism such as Citrobacter freundii 4AA-12 (FERM BP-6722) strain under aerobic conditions.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
