FUNCTIONALIZATION OF FIBER STRUCTURE HAVING REACTIVE FUNCTIONAL GROUP AND ITS FUNCTIONALIZED FIBER STRUCTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To impart functionality to a fiber structure without impairing characteristics of the fiber structure by fixing a functionalizing agent having a reactive functional group through interfacial polymerization of a polymer to the fiber structure. ;SOLUTION: A fiber structure such as woven or knitted fabric or nonwoven fabric is immersed into an aqueous solution containing a water-soluble diamine such as ethylene diamine, an alkali agent and any of functionalizing agents such as a water repellent, a hydrophilic agent, a shape stabilizer, an antimicrobial agent and an absorbent, e.g. a hydrophilic agent such as polyethylene glycol having aminated both terminals, squeezed and then, immersed into a nonaqueous solution containing an acid chloride such as sebacic acid chloride and squeezed, dried and desolvated and as necessary, heat-treated. Thereby, the above functionalizing agent is strongly fixed to the fiber structure.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
