PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide Ma family polypeptides and anti-Ma antibodies. ;SOLUTION: Ma family polypeptides Ma1, Ma2, Ma3, Ma4, and Ma5 are disclosed. A method of diagnosing a paraneoplastic syndrome by assessing a nucleic acid which codes the Ma family polypeptides, an antibody which is bonded to the Ma family polypeptides and a test sample which is derived from an individual regarding the existence or the absence or the amount of antibodies with reference to the Ma family polypeptides is disclosed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
