PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material, for cladding by welding and a deposited metal for cladding by welding for a cast iron press die which are favorable in reducing blow holes and ensuring the wear resistance.;SOLUTION: A material for cladding by welding for a cast iron press die is Fe-C-Si-Mn-Cr-Ni system, and has the composition consisting of, by weight, 0.05-0.20% C, 0.2-1.5% Si, 0.4-1.5% Mn, 9-13% Cr, 2.0-6.0% Ni, and the balance substantially Fe with inevitable impurities, and the ratio Cr/Ni is specified to be 1.5-6.5.
