PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately comprehend the weld penetrated quantity of a slab for a clad steel sheet.;SOLUTION: The weld penetrated quantity of the matrix of a slab for a clad steel sheet and a cladding material is measured by an array probe. Herein, the array probe 1 of which the electronic scanning range exceeds the max. weld penetration quantity is made to face opposite the slab in close vicinity to the position corresponding to the welded part 4 of the surface thereof to apply electronic scanning to the slab from the non-penetrating part 5 thereof to the edge surface thereof in a penetration direction and, from a threshold for deciding a flaw set as the reference to the max. reflected echo height within the gate 7 set across the boundary of the matrix 3 and the cladding material 2, a range such that the reflected echo is less than the threshold is comprehended, and weld penetration quantity is measured based on this range.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
