PURPOSE:To improve the high-speed picture drawing throughput of picture drawing data by successively transferring pattern data in blocks from a host computer to a plurality of processing units of either one of or both of a pipeline constitution and parallel processing constitution. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of pattern data 10 in blocks transferred from a host computer 6 are simultaneously converted into picture drawing data by using a plurality of processing units of a pipeline constitution composed of a plurality of processors for different processes connected in series or of a parallel processing constitution composed of a plurality of processors for the same process connected in parallel with each other. Therefore, high-speed data conversion 20 can be made and the picture drawing throughput can be improved. At the same time, collection 30 of processed results is divided into parts and can be performed in parallel with each other. As a result, even when the quantity of block data increases after processing, the bottle neck at the collecting section 30 can be evaded or sharply reduced.
