Process for coal peat or other biomasses and use of the process of anaerobic production of biogas

Sludge is treated and utilized by attaching hydrophilic water binding sludge particles to the surface of hydrophobic organic grains, e.g. grains of peat in a first phase, drying the grains with a water-bearing layer of sludge particles on the surface in a second phase to hydrophobize the surface layer, and circulating back the hydrophobic grains to the first phase. An Independent claim is also included for the use of the method in biological treatment of waste water for removal of sludge and for providing carbon source and substrate for microorganisms, in the manufacture of fertilizers, and in treating sludge for burning.
