The present invention relates to a self-cleaning surface for objects. According to the invention, the surface has an artificial surface structure with protrusions and recesses. The distance between the protrusions is in the range of 5 to 200 m, and the height of the protrusions is between 5 and 100 m. At least the protrusions are made of hydrophobic polymers or of permanently hydrophobized materials, and elevations with water or water-insoluble detergents. The invention also relates to a method for producing a self-cleaning surface. According to the invention, the surface structural hydrophobic polymers are either produced during the production, or are subsequently produced by post-embossing, by stitching, or by gluing a powder containing hydrophobic polymers, or by retrofitting the surface with a previously produced and desired surface structure. ŕ
