Method for increasing the production of clavulanic acid Streptomyces by overexpression of the gene Clar. The HPLC gene characterized by the sequence SEQ ID NO: 2 is located in the gene cluster encoding the biosynthetic genes clavulanic acid and shows high similarity to regulatory genes that act as transcriptional activators. Using recombinant DNA techniques the gene is introduced into Streptomyces to obtain transformants having enhanced clavulanic acid, relative to untransformed control strains production. Figure 2.
