Automatic hinged device with a self-contained supply source for railway carriages used for the transport of vehicles. When pressing the control button (1), four motors (2) supplied by rechargeable photovoltaic batteries are started these motors actuate transmission shafts (4) which, by rotating, can open and close a structure covered by a canvas to protect the vehicles. Said structure is comprised of arms (13) which are anchored to the transmission shafts and are connected by telescopic guides (14) which extend or retract horizontally during the opening and closing operations, respectively. Said structure is light and can sealingly close the loading enclosure by means of doors at both front ends.
