FIRST DRAFT-ACTIVE NOISE REDUCTION AUDIOMETRY HEADPHONES

An ative noise reduction (ANR) is applied to audiometry headphones for a variety of audiometer configurations. The ANR headphones (26) can be used in conjunction with any standard audiometer (28), retrofit ANR device for audiometry (29), or integrated ANR audiometer (30). The headphones (26) can be operated with a variety of different outputs, dependent on the interface and configuration of the audiometer. The calibration of both standard audiometer headphones as well as ANR audiometer headphones are performed using an adjustable gain control (31). Current standard calibration procedures are applied to ANR audiometer headphones and the design requires no changes in the audiometer calibration procedure. In addition new calibration procedures for ANR audiometry headphones are described. 'In-line calibration' is implemented for the ANR audiometry headphones utilizing separate output and audiometry signals.
