PURPOSE: A gene encoding Paragonimus westermani ferritin H-subunit, an amino acid sequence thereof and a method for detecting immunologically Paragonimus westermani infection using the ferritin H-subunit are provided. CONSTITUTION: A Paragonimus westermani ferritin H-subunit and immune serum thereof are useful as an antigen for immunological detection, because of their sensitive and specific reactivity with the serum of patients suffering from the Paragonimus westermani infection. The gene encoding Paragonimus westermani ferritin H-subunit has a nucleotide sequence represented by SEQ ID NO : 1, and a molecular type thereof is cDNA. In addition, the amino acids predicted by the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO : 1 has an amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO : 2.
