The work cell is divided into a number of calibration zones, with only one measuring point within each zone. The adjustment area is set so that the adjustment error in each area is kept within an acceptable tolerance. Within each area, the adjustment is preferably made according to a linear adjustment algorithm. The method according to the invention comprises storing a database of all tube opening coordinates in a tube sheet coordinate system. Each coordinate of the database is assigned to one of a plurality of adjustment regions.
