FIELD: monitoring of level of low concentration of volatile organic compounds in underground water from water-bearing horizon. SUBSTANCE: in agreement with proposed technique diffusion cell with polymer membrane is placed in ecological medium for sampling of organic substances by way of their diffusion through polymer membrane. Membrane provides for separation of ecological medium from zone of carrying gas of liquid. Carrying gas or liquid is supplied into cell and output signal characterizing presence of organic compounds in water is formed. Equilibrium state in cell is maintained in accord with technique by way of control over carrying gas or liquid in closed system, or by maintenance of low velocity of flow of gas or liquid chosen in advance. Thus concentration of organic compounds in diffusion cell corresponds to concentration of organic compounds in ecological medium which ensures possibility of detection of low levels of concentration of organic compounds in ecological medium with high degree of sensitivity. Device for realization of technique has diffusion cell, aid concentrating organic compounds connected to cell, carrying gas or liquid and detector connected to aid concentrating and detecting presence of organic compounds. Cell and detector display capability of detection of low levels of concentration of organic compounds in ecological medium with high degree of sensitivity in real time under field conditions. EFFECT: enhanced sensitivity to low levels of concentration of organic compounds, simplified design of device with provision for accurate measurement and continuous monitoring. 17 cl, 7 dwg
