Catalytically hydrogenating aromatic polymers in the presence of an oxygen containing hydrocarbon and a catalyst based on an VIII subgroup element using silicon dioxide or aluminum oxide support
No significant decrease in molecular weight occurs when aromatic polymers are catalytically hydrogenated in the presence of an oxygen containing hydrocarbon and a commercially available standard hydrogenation catalyst containing an VIII subgroup element supported on SiO2, Al oxide or their mixtures, and in which less than 15% of the pores are of size 100-1000 angstrom.
