The cooling arrangement has a connection via a carrier element (30) for the electrical machine (20) between the electrical machine and a cooling element (40) in the engine block (10) so that the heat generated by operating the electrical machine is or can be thermally drawn off into the engine block. An Independent claim is also included for a use of the arrangement to cool a permanently stimulated synchronous machine, preferably a starter-generator.
