Process and arrangement for instantaneous determination of chemical oxygen demand (C.OThe process allows continuous measurement on flowing water, by using a reduced water flow rate in a tubular by-pass (plug flow reactor). The water is charged with as high an amount of dissolved, active oxygen as is possible, and the concentration of oxygen measured immediately at a first measuring station SG1.
