The engine has a cylinder with an opposed piston pair in a sealed housing with a crankcase (6), a common crankshaft (5), a double-sided crank drive, a conventional fresh-air/mixture induction system, central inlet openings (18) to the cylinder (28) for fresh air transition from the crankcase into the working chamber (26) or vice-versa with an induction valve (19), a Hall sensor arrangement for changing the valve between two and four stroke modes, a holding magnet (17) for controlling the valve during compression and separate control electronics.
