PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a four-cycle engine equipped with piston valves managing well with eventual overlapping of simultaneously opening intake valve for mixture gas and exhaust valve. SOLUTION: The four-cycle engine having piston valves is furnished with an intake valve for mixture gas and an exhaust valve, and further valves (a, b, c), whereby a method is established, in which the actually expansion stroke in the expansion stroke is taken longer in terms of piston stroke than the actually compressing stroke in the compression stroke, and also a countermeasure against excessive long setting is established.
