The data lines (20) are optical fibres, each with a transmission fibre and a reception fibre. At least one star arm (30) has several parallel following participants coupled to the respective fibres by Y-couplers. The output coupling degree of the Y-couplers is so chosen that the same light strength is available to each participant in the arm. In the transmission fibre is preferably incorporated an active optical amplifier. Typically the optical fibres are of glass, or of a polymer. The output coupling degree of Y-couplers is between 5 and 10 per cent.
