A spring in the form of a torsion bar spring (5) is active between the seat part (1) and backrest (2) and has regions (5a, 5b) running parallel to the horizontal axis (3) adjoined by an angled area (5c) which is fixed on a part of the backrest (2). The outer ends of the torsion bar regions are adjoined by parts angled transversely to same and guided displaceable in the direction of their longitudinal axis on an area fixed on the seat part. The ends of the angled areas are held in longitudinal slits of fitments fixed on the seat.
