Hydrogen energy storage material with rare earth catalytic agent accelerates hydrogen take-up and release for technical applications. An energy-storage material contains atomic metal, metal alloys, inter-metallic metal phases, compound materials, and suitable hydrides. The material stores energy by hydrogenation and surrenders energy by dehydrogenation. The speed with which hydrogenation and dehydrogenation takes place is accelerated by the incorporation especially of a rare earth metal mixed oxide catalytic agent with a nano-crystalline structure. The energy-storage material with catalyst are produced by a grinding process under an inert argon gas atmosphere of duration 1 to 200 hours.
