New Drosophila melanogaster deoxynucleoside kinase (Dm-dNK) for the synthesis of nucleoside monophosphates

A recombinant Drosophila melanogaster deoxynucleoside kinase (Dm-dNK) (I) which remains stable during nucleoside monophosphate synthesis without the presence of stabilizing reagents, is new. Independent claims are also included for the following; (1) DNA (II) encoding the kinase (I); (2) DNA primers with a fully defined 24, 27, 33, 27, 30, 42 or 27 bp sequence (given in the specification) which hybridize to (II); (3) a vector comprising the DNA in (1); (4) a host cell comprising the vector in (3); and (5) production of recombinant Dm-dNK comprising; (i) isolating the coding sequence of Dm-dNK; (ii) cloning the coding sequence from (i) into a vector and transforming E. coli cells; and (iii) culturing the E. coli to bring about expression of the Dm-dNK gene.
