The headrest(1) has a rigid base component(2) and an elastically expandable cover(3) which to form a neck support integrated into the headrest can be widened out by a vertically movable rigid support element(4) by means of a drive comprising a threaded spindle(8) rotatable and lockable in the headrest in the longitudinal direction and a nut(7) fixed on the support structure. The threaded spindle is rotated by a motor(10) installed in the seat back supporting the headrest. Rotation is transmitted from the motor through a flexible twist-resistant component such as a cable(11).
