A device for providing a scent in a space or room has a switch-operated ventilator (31) located in the housing (3) at a pre-determined distance from a scent-providing mechanism (21), there being an aroma chamber (33) formed between the ventilator and the mechanism (21) such that when the ventilator is in the switched-off state a high concentration of scent in builds up chamber (33) but floods out when the ventilator is switched on.
