3D computerized tomography imaging, involving combining processed 2D data sets with correction data by weighted 3D back projection in common 3D space to reconstruct 3D image
The method involves combining processed two dimensional data sets with correction data, by weighted three dimensional back projection in a common three dimensional space, to reconstruct a three dimensional image. The method involves detecting several sets of two dimensional (2D) conical beam projection data, by subjecting an object to energy from a conical beam source (210) directed towards a 2D detector (212). This is done for a corresponding number of scanning path (214) source positions arranged about the object (216). A mask is used on each data set. The projection data are processed within the mask boundary for each masked data set. Each processed data set corresponds to a first computed estimate of radon derivative data defined for a given set of 2D conical beam projection data. A predefined limited quantity of 2D correction data are adaptively generated for each first estimate. Each processed 2D data set is combined with the correction data in a weighted three dimensional (3D) back projection manner in a common 3D space to reconstruct a 3D image of the region off interest. An Independent claim is also included for an arrangement for three-dimensional computerized tomography imaging.
