The magnetic resonance unit is set up as a transilluminating unit to provide two-dimensional projections of three-dimensional regions of interest. There is no slice selection or alternatively a slice thickness may be selected according to the dimensions of the patient or organ. The main magnetic field strength is small e.g. 0.25 Tesla. The patient stands in the opening of the C-form of the main field magnet (1) or a small child is examined lying down. A rapid imaging technique, e.g. a refocused gradient echo technique is used.
