Process for recovering lithium from a mixture of solid lithium hydroxide (LiOH) and another solid material comprises; (a) bubbling hydrogen sulfide (H 2S) gas through a slurry of the mixture in an aprotic solvent to convert the LiOH to soluble lithium hydrogen sulfide (LiSH); (b) separating the resulting LiSH solution from the solid residue; and (c) washing the residue with the aprotic solvent.
