Microwave oven with an induction heating function as well as a suitable control method

The microwave oven includes microprocessor controlled high frequency cooking (38B) using a magnetron (MGT) and induction cooking (38A) using an induction coil (1H), together with a power supply circuit to convert ac mains to dc. A loading circuit determines the material of the cooking vessel in the oven, and further circuitry tests whether the oven door is open or closed (14). With an open oven door, the microprocessor allows induction heating only, but if the door is closed it determines the cooking vessel material, selects a cooking method or a combination of methods and gives an alarm signal if the cooking vessel is unsuitable for either method. The user can also pre-select a cooking method, and a thawing function is included.
