A slackless drawbar includes a first female connection member (20), having a first cavity (14), engaging one end of a first railway car. First and second openings (30,36) are formed through respective first and second side wall portions (26,28) of such first cavity. A first male connection member (40) has a portion movably disposed in such first cavity (14). A first aperture (44) is formed through such first male member (40). A first ball member (46) has a portion disposed in such first aperture (44) and a first pair of shaft members (48,50) extends from outer surfaces thereof. A portion of one shaft member (48) is disposed in the first opening (30) and a portion of another one is disposed in the second opening (36). Such first pair of shafts have opposed flat surface portions. A first race assembly (56) is disposed in such first aperture (44) and secured to the first male member. An inner surface of such first race surrounds such first ball (46). A second female connection member, having a second cavity, engages one end of a second car. In similar manner the details of the second end of the drawbar are mirror images of the above mentioned first end. IMAGE
