The implement consists of a shovel with a perforated plate (1) and three raised sides for collecting embers from a fire for roasting chestnuts or reuse. It has a handle (3) with a striker (2) for shaking out ash, and a cover (4) shaped to fit over the blade for roasting chestnuts on the embers remaining on the plate. The end of the handle has a hook (14) for hanging the shovel up beside the fireplace.
