The invention concerns a system for monitoring the space in each public transport unit and for providing the passengers with information concerning a certain number of subjects of interest. The invention is characterised in that a recording medium (70) continuously records sequences in the transport unit filmed by cameras (38) and data concerning time and place provided by a device (36). Said medium content is transmitted (42, 26, 48) to a station (14) which verifies that the recording and transmitting system are functioning properly and subsequently analyses the sequences preceding and following acts of vandalism and/or violence.
