Intraoral mandibular distractor has anchors for traction and control components able to apply force in direction of bone fragment

The distractor, made from a biocompatible material such as titanium or a titanium alloy, consists of anchors (3, 4) at points (A,A', B, B', C, D) close to the zone (2) of the missing bone fragment, traction and control components which combine to apply forces in the direction of the missing bone fragment. The first and second fixed anchors (3) are joined by a mandibular connector (5), while the first and second mobile anchors (4) are situated between the fixed ones on either side of the missing fragment, and traction is applied by a threaded rod. Press stud-type connectors on the anchors can be used to support a dental prosthesis.
