PURPOSE: To automatically divide meshes of respective faces constituting a three-dimensional shape model. ;CONSTITUTION: Whether each face can generated a mesh consisting of only quadrilateral elements or not is retrieved by a retrieving part 9a for a face having the number of unequal gratings, the number of gratings is set up in all segments constituting a face which can generate the mesh as the result of judgement by a setting part 9da for the whole number of gratings and a projection correcting part 9db and quadrilateral element is generated by a quadrilateral mesh generating part 9fa. The number of gratings is set up on segments constituting another face by a setting part 9dc for the number of unequal gratings and element mixed with triangle and quadrilateral is generated by a triangle/quadrilateral-mixed mesh generating part 9fb based upon the number of elements. Consequently a high division rate for the automatic mesh division of a three-dimensional shell shape model is obtained and the man-power saving of operation can be permitted.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
