PURPOSE:To provide an automatic ticket examining device and its detecting method for checking boarding data (a boarding station, the data and hour of boarding, etc.) from a season ticket in order to check illegal boarding. CONSTITUTION:The automatic ticket examining device is provided with a station intrinsic data memory part 23 in which boarding data such as a boarding station and the data and hour of boarding are stored, a control part 21 for reading commutation ticket data at the time of getting on/off, and a medium data read/write part 22 for storing the boarding data stored in the station intrinsic data memory part 23 in a storage medium of a commutation ticket and/or erasing it, in the case it is decided that the season ticket data is correct by the control part 21. Also, the device is provided with an illegal passenger list memory part 24 for retaining personal data of a passenger who uses a season ticket decided to be illegal data, and issuing a warning sentence to a passenger detected from the list of the retained personal data, in the case it is decided that the season ticket data are illegal by the control part.
