PURPOSE: To improve detecting sensitivity to strain and stress by a method wherein the strain larger than breaking strain of a conductive fiber bundle is given beforehand to a plastic composite material and thereafter change in an electric resistance is measured. ;CONSTITUTION: This conductive fiber bundle containing plastic composite material 1 is formed in the shape of a lattice by a plurality of longitudinal rods 2 and lateral rods 3 intersecting them. The longitudinal rod 2 has a carbon fiber bundle (conductive fiber bundle) and a glass fiber bundle (reinforcing fiber bundle) incorporated integrally inside a string-shaped plastic material. A tensile strain is given temporarily to this composite material 1 in the longitudinal direction of the longitudinal rod 2. This temporary strain is larger a little than the strain by which the carbon fiber bundle incorporated in the longitudinal rod 2 is broken. By this preparation, a value of resistance to the strain of the conductive fiber bundle is made to change sensitively. In addition, natural characteristics of conductive fibers, i.e., appearance of a phenomenon of memory of a residual resistance value on the occasion of occurrence of a high strain and others, remain as they are.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
