PURPOSE: To provide an aqueous dispersion composition having excellent stability, produced by dispersing fine particles of a colored hydrophobic resin in an aqueous dispersion and useful for the surface coloring or surface protection of an article by applying to the surface of the article or the production of a molded article by molding the composition as it is or molding a mixture of the dispersion composition and other structural material. CONSTITUTION: This aqueous dispersion composition is produced by dispersing (A) fine particles of a colored hydrophobic resin in (B) an aqueous dispersion. The component A is produced e.g. by dispersing 1-60wt.% of a coloring agent in a thermoplastic resin such as polyester resin, styrene resin or acrylic resin having a glass transition temperature of 40-80 deg.C, a number-average molecular weight (Mn) of =50,000 and an Mw/Mn ratio of =5 (Mw is weight-average molecular weight) and has an average particle diameter of 3-20μm and a frictional electrification of -100 to +100μc/g. Preferably, the component A is further incorporated with a low-molecular polyolefin (e.g. PE or PP having an Mw of 800-7,000.
