PURPOSE: To provide a sensor device which can detect any type of fires and also can discriminate the type of the fire broken out to output it. ;CONSTITUTION: A detection element, e.g. an organic semiconductor element changes its characteristic value such as the resistance value, etc., against the gas generated by a fire with flaming and the gas generated by a fire with smoking and also changes the polarity of change of the characteristic value between both types of gas. For instance, the resistance value of the detection element is extracted by a resistance value extractor 11 by making use of such characteristics of the element. Then a resistance decrease discriminator 12 and a resistance increase discriminator 13 judge the decrease and the increase of the resistance value of the detection element. Based on these results of discrimination, an output circuit 14 outputs a prescribed signal. Thus the outbreak of a fire can be detected and/or the type (properties) of the fire is also detected.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
