PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a ceramic compsn. hardenable at ordinary temp., excellent in heat and weather resistances, appliable to a concrete structure, a steel material, etc., and usable also for anticorrosive paint and adhesives by incorporating specified amts. of silicon dioxide, alumina, calcium oxide and iron oxide. ;SOLUTION: This ceramic compsn. contains, by weight, 50-60% silicon dioxide, 15-25% alumina, 10-20% calcium oxide and 3-14% iron oxide. When powder of this compsn. is mixed with potassium silicate (water glass), silicon dioxide particles dissolve in the water glass and are further finely divided to increase the surface area. The silicon dioxide becomes liable to react with the calcium oxide, 3CaO-SiO2 crystals are rapidly formed and the compsn. is hardened in a short time. When calcium hydroxide is further added, it reacts with the water glass, the formation of 3CaO-SiO2 crystals is facilitated and hardening is accelerated.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
