PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the concentration of a sample directly by on-line without diluting the sample even if the concentration is high by adjusting the length of a light transmission path. ;SOLUTION: A fixed-plate installed vertically in a substrate is fixed in the substrate and a movable plate is so installed as to be freely movable in the axial direction. In order to adjust the length of the transmission path of radiated light by finely adjusting the interval between the fixed plate and the movable plate, a micrometer may be installed to further precisely move the movable plate. The fixed plate and the movable plate are joined by a sliding bearing in a metal-rod state to prevent probable swing in the back and forth directions in the movement of the movable plate. Circular holes are formed at the same positions of the movable plate and the fixed plate to pass the radiated light and quartz glass plates with thickness of about 1/16 inch are installed in the insides of the holes. Light or laser light is passed through the holes to analyze the absorbance of the substance to be measured while a reaction liquid being circulated through a sample inlet and a sample outlet of the fixed plate.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
