PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing rice cake soup capable of giving freshly pounded rice cake anytime at ordinary homes or Japanese-style restaurants, and capable of providing even a small amount thereof if necessary, to provide a method for producing rice cake soup food, to provide a packed rice cake soup, and to obtain a rice cake soup food by the method. ;SOLUTION: This method for producing rice cake soup comprises grinding glutinous rice to make it floury followed by adding an appropriated quantity of water to the floury glutinous rice, or comprises soaking glutinous rice in water and crushing the glutinous rice into finely granular state followed by adding an appropriate quantity of water to the resultant finely granular glutinous rice. The method for producing rice cake soup food comprises heating the rice cake soup thus produced followed by cooling the resultant soup.
